Come to the Ultraviolet Dark Side!

Our Contrast SDFI Forensic Camera System, along with any ultraviolet contrast light, allows examiners and investigators to capture high resolution images and video in the Ultraviolet Dark. The System is designed to see and capture images within the ultraviolet light spectrum with the help of contrast lights. The System helps you to see dried fluids such as sperm and semen among other things. Wearing filter goggles, investigators shine a contrast light at an area of interest in order to take still pictures and videos during ANY type of investigation. Examples include: crime scenes, homicide, sexual assault and elder abuse to name a few.

NEW PRODUCT ALERT!!!

The SDFI Store And Send System allows Investigators who use their own cameras to be able to obtain the SDFI Image Management Software to view their own pictures with SDFI's Negative Invert Filter and other forensic tools. Encrypt and store documents on your own network and computer, then send them to your recipients.

Managed Care/Continuity of Care

Managed Care can be defined as a method of health care delivery that focuses on collaboration and coordination of all services to avoid duplication of services, delays and over-spending. It can also be described as a variety of techniques implemented to reduce unnecessary healthcare costs through a variety of mechanisms which could include economic incentives to physicians and patients. This is done in an effort to implement less costly forms of care, including programs for reviewing the necessity of some offered services, including controls on inpatient admissions and a person's lengths of stays, to name a few.

For many states, the Medicare program and other providers are moving forward with their own type of accountable care organizations.

Another aspect of Managed Care is known as Continuity of Care. Continuity is the experience of how care relates to patient's satisfaction with both the interpersonal aspects of care and the coordination of that care. In contrast, continuity for the care of a patient cannot be evaluated solely through the patient's experiences, but is related to many aspects of services such as case-management and multidisciplinary team-working. From a provider perspective, the focus is on effective service delivery and improved patient outcomes. A full consideration of continuity of care should cover both patient and provider perspectives, exploring how these come together to enhance the care, based around the patient's needs.

CONNECT for Health Act Set to Expand Use of Telehealth

On February 2nd of 2016, a bipartisan group of Senators introduced a bill that would provide basic telemedicine benefits and remote monitoring services in Medicare Advantage by removing numerous barriers to reimbursement. The bill would also help providers meet the goals of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System.

So far, the bill has met with wide acceptance and excitement.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has a 2016 list of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) reimbursement codes for Medicare and Medicaid. Asynchronous telemedicine codes can be found on this list, which is located here.

"CoNned" Beyond Reasonable Doubt

It's a good thing for all of us, though. SDFI is CoN Certified (Certificate of Networthiness) from the United States Army, meaning our software is worthy to run on their systems, is secure and complies with the Federal Department of Defense Army regulations and mandates. That's a big deal. With SDFI, you are "Secure Beyond Reasonable DoubtŪ". View the CoN here.

So, What Have We Been Up To, Lately?

SDFI-TeleMedicine booth participants were busy with hands-on demonstrations of our Contrast and Standard Camera Systems In January at The American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) Conference in Las Vegas, NV.

In April, we attended the Michigan Chapter of the National Children's Alliance (MINCA) show, in Traverse City, where SDFI's Ward Allen gave a talk, entitled "Technology Facts, Fears, Photos and Myths of Digital Forensic Photodocumentation Within Multidisciplinary Child Advocacy Centers".

Also, in April, we ventured into Compliance territory - a field which is brand new to us, when we attended the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) show in Las Vegas - an experience which proved to be very valuable!
